You pick from a roster of characters before each run, and every one of them can be upgraded over time, with damage and critical hit chance climbing toward a maximum of five stars as you invest in them. With only three lives to work with, the game rewards balancing speed and power rather than button-mashing through every fight. Watching your character's health alongside their strength stats is part of the challenge, since a reckless push through a tough level can end your run early.
